Nordic EdTech News #26 : 2020-09-14
Your Week 36 and 37 update from the Nordic & Baltic EdTech ecosystems
This newsletter marks 12 months since I started Nordic EdTech News and it’s unbelievable to think how much has happened in that time. But, as outlined in the news items below, Nordic and Baltic EdTech continue to steam ahead strongly, despite significant market challenges.
Our local EdTech ecosystem has been further strengthened by the recent launch of EdTech Lithuania - huge congratulations to everyone involved! The initiative is formally kicked off on Thursday at the GLL Gathering 2020: Learning Fever, and features a stellar line-up including Esther Wojcicki and Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO at Coursera.
As infections rise (again) across Europe, there’s continued uncertainty just as schools get back into their groove, although this McKinsey report offers a strong framework for moving forwards. There’s also increasing pressure on smaller global EdTech businesses as larger players exert an increasing influence (Link). There surely has to be room for both in the ‘more equitable and resilient K–12 education system’ envisaged in this fascinating McKinsey report.
The team behind Teach Millions are gearing up to ensure that schools can continue to access high-quality Nordic EdTech resources, whenever and wherever learning takes place. If you’d like to get resources listed on the site or if you’re able to support the site financially, please contact their CEO, Peter Fagerström (peter@teachmillions.org).
